Fred Thompson, the actor and Republican politician died in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday at 73 from lymphoma, and now a number of stars are reacting. Thompson served in the Senate from 1994 until 2003. He also briefly ran for president in 2008. Many knew Thompson from his work as an actor, having starred in such movies as The Hunt for Red and No Way Out, and from his role as a District Attorney on the TV series “Law & Order” from 2002 to 2007. Elisabeth Rohm, who starred on “Law & Order,” tweeted, “It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Fred Thompson. Devastated to hear this sad news & Sending love and prayers to his family#RIP.” Lou Diamond Phillips added, “RIP former senator and actor Fred Thompson. A statesman and a true gentleman, I was honored to experience his warmth and kindness.” And Michael McKean expressed, “Met Fred Thompson once & he was awfully nice. Underrated, too. Thought he would have made a wonderful Big Daddy in Hot Tin Roof. RIP.”

Tim McGraw wrote, “Our family was saddened to hear of the passing of Senator Fred Thompson. He was a good man and our prayers are with his family.” Meghan McCain tweeted, “So very sad to hear about the passing of Fred Thompson, prayers with his family.
