Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are NOT “back together,” despite a new tabloid cover story. Gossip Cop can debunk the report.
The new issue of Star hit newsstands on Wednesday announcing the “$150 million divorce is off.” The accompanying story further declares Affleck and Garner are “picking up the pieces of their broken marriage — and starting a fresh, romantic chapter in their relationship.” But the evidence is little more than paparazzi photos of the stars spending time with their kids and unsubstantiated quotes from assorted tipsters.
“Sources close to the pair are saying that Ben and Jen’s relationship has grown so strong, they’re even talking about giving their marriage a second chance,” writes the magazine. A so-called “family insider” is quoted as explaining, “Jen has realized that she’s never going to find anyone as great as Ben.” And what about Affleck’s side?
The supposed “insider” claims to the outlet that Affleck has been “working hard to win Jen back, but he was still shocked when she told him she wanted to give it another shot.” The Star snitch even adds, “It finally seems like they both really want this marriage to work.” The rest of the story is filled out with a rehash of Affleck and Garner’s alleged marriage problems, with the claim that couples therapy allowed them to work through the issues to the point of reconciling.
Look, there’s no doubt Affleck and Garner are making a concerted effort to work on their relationship. But they’re doing that as friends and co-parents, not as spouses who have the intention of staying married. Gossip Cop is told, once again, that the plan is still to move forward with the divorce. And if and when that ever changes, don’t expect Star to be the outlet breaking the news.
