Stars are slamming FOX for losing power during game one of the World Series on Monday.
As Gossip Cop reported, the Kansas City Royals are taking on the New York Mets at Kauffman Stadium for the 2015 MLB championship. Like most years, FOX has the broadcast rights to the series, and had begun airing a pre-show at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. About an hour after the actual game started, however, the feed went out, causing play to come to a halt during the fourth inning.
A graphic appeared on screen announcing Fox Sports was “experiencing technical difficulties,” and viewers should “stand by.” The official Twitter account also posted, “We apologize for technical difficulties with our #WorldSeries broadcast. We are working on fixing the issue ASAP.” The problem seemed to stem from a transmission issue in the truck sending the game’s signal.
Understandably, viewers were not pleased, and that included a number of celebrities. Josh Groban pointed out that FOX’s money-making avenue was still functioning fine. “That’s weird, the Fox commercials are working great,” he tweeted. Jeff Daniels similarly posted, “Lost power to play commercials. Stop everything. Let’s get this fixed.”
Rob Lowe, whose show “The Grinder” airs on the network, joked, “The comedy power of just a promo for #TheGrinder crashed the entire #WorldSeries telecast! What will a whole episode do??” Tom Arnold also cracked, “G-D would never let that happen if @Cubs had been playing. #NextYear”
And Lance Armstrong retweeted ESPN reporter Darren Rovell, who wrote, “This is not one of those events where you can go to the studio.” The sports journalist went on to note, “For those scoring at home, we lost the Fox broadcasting team for 23 minutes.” In the photo above, officials, including Joe Torre, are seen discussing the situation.
