The back-nine comes just a week before the comedy moves to Thursday.

It's been a rollcoaster of a day for comedies — and it's ending on a high for at least one. CBS has given a full 22-episode season order to Life in Pieces.

The back-nine order for the freshman sitcom comes within 12 hours of NBC pulling back on its only new half-hour of the season and Fox giving a full commitment to one of its own. It also follows the first Monday that Life in Pieces didn't even air, with a special Supergirl launch airing in its place.

Life in Pieces next moves to Thursday on Nov. 5, retaining its Big Bang Theory lead-in, but the ensemble family comedy has thus far done well on Mondays. It's averaging 10.3 million viewers and a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 in it's latest live-plus-seven day showings. Better still, Life in Pieces recent improved its same-day showing for a post-premiere best.

"Life in Pieces, with one of the best ensemble casts on television, is telling terrific stories in a very unique way, and we’re excited to tell many more of them this season,” said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Kapital Entertainment, Life in Pieces stars Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, Zoe Lister-Jones, Colin Hanks, Angelique Cabral, Thomas Sadoski, Betsy Brandt, Dan Bakkedahl, Niall Cunningham, Holly J. Barrett and Giselle Eisenberg.

The comedy joins fellow CBS freshman Limitless on the growing list of full-season orders. And, after Monday's strong premiere, no one should be surprised if network neighbor Supergirl gets a similar order in the near future.
