Olivia Wilde said she finds Donald Trump’s proposed immigration policy to be “really sickening.” Shortly after her remarks to the New York Post, supporters of the Republican presidential candidate began bashing the actress on Twitter. See her response below.
A Twitter user named @Patriot_dynasty called Wilde a “liberal idiot,” while a person with the handle @wstaar1 tweeted she was, “Hot, but dopey.” Additional tweets from angry Trump supporters apparently insisted that the actress go back to wherever she came from.
Wilde wrote on Tuesday, “Ok Trump-lovers, I will do as you suggest and go back to where I came from… which happens to be NYC so I’m just gonna chill. Thanks!” Trump happens to be from New York, as well.
It isn’t clear where some of Wilde’s Twitter attackers believe she “came from,” however, the actress does hold dual citizenship with Ireland through her father. One of her social media supporters named @UnkleKnacker also pointed out, “Your British accent in Rush was imho excellent Olivia and has apparently confused Trump’s supporters?”
As Gossip Cop reported, Wilde poked fun at Trump back in June when the businessman first announced he was running for president in 2016. The actress posted a photo of a wig designed for a woman’s nether regions, along with the caption, “This merkin also has cash to burn and might as well run for president.”
