Demi Lovato “unceremoniously dumped” Adam Lambert as the opening act for her upcoming world tour in favor of Nick Jonas, according to an unconfirmed report. Gossip Cop has reached out all parties involved for comment.

Lovato is expected to embark on a world tour next year in support of her new album, Confident, which just came out last week. TMZ is claiming Lambert was intended to accompany her. The two have been known to support each other’s careers over the years, but neither had publicly made mention of teaming up.

But now TMZ is alleging that Lambert has been replaced by Jonas at the last minute. Lovato and Jonas, of course, are famously close friends, and launched a joint record label together earlier this year, as Gossip Cop reported at the time. They work with the same manager, and share a publicity team, too.

TMZ claims Lambert and Lovato’s camps had already struck a deal in principle, covering finances, and were in the process of making decisions like stage design. But the site says Lovato’s manager “convinced” her to “dump” the “American Idol” runner-up in order to get Jonas touring. TMZ further blames the last-minute change as the reason why Lovato’s tour announcement was allegedly delayed from last week.

The outlet describes Lambert as feeling “betrayed,” and cites a source as slamming the move as “very unprofessional and unethical.” Gossip Cop reached out to the Jonas-Lovato management and publicity camps, as well as Lambert’s rep, but did not immediately hear back. We will have updates.
