Newly-engaged “Voice” contestants Jubal and Amanda faced off with Amy Vachal on Tuesday’s show, the last battle episode of season 9. Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Jubal Lee Young made history when he got down on knee and proposed to Amanda Preslar at the end of their blind audition. Pharrell scooped them up, giving him his first-ever duo. But he also scored gorgenous singer Vachal, who Adam Levine said “could win this whole thing.”
But after a mentoring session with guest advisor Missy Elliott and performance of “To Love Somebody,” Pharrell could only choose one of the acts as the winner. And with rest of the panel’s steals all used up, the losing act would be eliminated with no choice of getting a last-minute save. That put Pharrell in quite the predicament.
Gwen Stefani noted, “Jubal and Amanda, your voices are so strong, and Amy, you have a whole different thing because you voice is so delicate.” The No Doubt front woman stressed that there’s a clear “contrast” between the acts. She then added, “But in my mind, [Amy] on her own, she’s a star.”
Adam Levine quipped, “I felt like Amy was a third wheel on a date or something.” He went on to acknowledge, “There was no way for this not to be awkward,” but said the solo artist more than held her own. And Blake Shelton noted that Vachal turning him down during the blind auditions was the “most hurtful reaction I ever had on this show.” He commended Jubal and Amanda for being “so much better” than their initial performance, but added, “As great as they are, I just don’t how you move forward without Amy.”
With all that, the choice became clear. After calling Jubal and Amanda an “amazing unit together,” Pharrell picked Vachal as the winner! Watch below, and tell us what you think!
