Khloe Kardashian finally broke her silence on Lamar Odom’s health crisis on Tuesday, one week after he was found unconscious and unresponsive in a Nevada brothel from a suspected overdose. See below.
In a statement on Kardashian’s website, she says, “The past week has been incredibly difficult. I am so thankful to family, friends, and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar.” The reality star goes on, “I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made.”
“You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure,” continues Kardashian. “Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!!”
Kardashian’s first words on the medical emergency come just hours after Odom was transferred from a Las Vegas hospital to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he will continue to receive intensive treatment care. As Gossip Cop reported earlier, the NBA star is still in critical condition and has a long road ahead of him. Kardashian has been by his side since first learning of the situation last Tuesday night.
As Gossip Cop has noted, Kardashian and Odom are still legally married. Though they have both signed their divorce papers, the petition has not yet been signed off by a judge. As such, Kardashian is still considered his next of kin and the person responsible for medical decisions as long as he is incapable of making them for himself.
Kardashian’s family members have used social media to encourage prayers over the last week, and she was technically part of a joint Kardashian-Jenner statement announcing their websites and apps would be on “hold” during this difficult time. Sister Kim, however, returned to posting on Monday, and now Kardashian has used her own site as the venue to break her silence. Gossip Cop will have updates.
