The 'American Odyssey' co-creator will continue to create new projects for the studio.
Peter Horton is staying put at Universal Television.
The prolific writer-director has signed a new two-year overall deal with the studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Horton, who has been at Uni TV for the past four years, will continue to write, produce and direct under the new pact.
The actor-turned-director/producer previously co-created and exec produced, wrote and directed NBC's American Odyssey, which was canceled after one season.
"We have enjoyed a long-standing, fruitful relationship with Peter," Uni TV president Bela Bajaria said. "He is a talented director, writer and a producer with smart instincts. We look forward to continuing our relationship and to many successful projects ahead."
Horton has directed 10 pilots, eight of which have gone on to series including Grey's Anatomy, Ironside and Dirty Sexy Money. He has been nominated for an Emmy and two DGA awards and won a Golden Globe and PGA award for his work on Grey's. He recently made his feature film directorial debut on Universal Pictures' The Cure. He's repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson.
