George Clooney appeared as the first-ever guest on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday, but because the actor didn’t have an actual movie to promote, he decided to play clips from a fake one called Decision Strike. Watch the funny video below!
Clooney was rocking a goatee for the interview, prompting Colbert to crack, “Thank you for coming dressed up as your evil twin.” Jokes aside, Colbert was touched that the actor would come on his show without any agenda, since Clooney doesn’t have a film coming out soon. “I’m just here to see you,” Clooney told the new talk show host. “And I think that’s why everyone else is here.” With that, the studio audience chanted “Stephen! Stephen! Stephen!”
Even though Clooney had nothing to plug, Colbert told him, “We can pretend that you have a movie. Let’s say it’s some sort of action thriller.” The host then came up with the title, “Decision Strike,” and said that in it Clooney plays “a tough no-nonsense secretary general of the U.N.” Clooney liked the pitch, adding, “The whole world is on the brink of destruction, and my character is the only one who can stop it.”
Colbert then played a “clip” from Decision Strike, which featured someone knocking on Clooney’s dressing room door. The actor came out in a full tuxedo, and yelled, “Not now damn it! I’m defusing a nuclear bomb.” Colbert praised the “scene” from Clooney’s non-existent movie, and went on to show a romantic clip from the film. The footage also featured someone knocking on Clooney’s dressing room door, but this time he emerged yelling, “Not now! I’m making love to a woman. It’s very romantic!”
A third clip from the fake movie was an “action sequence” and featured Clooney hanging from an “airplane door,” which was really just the door to the same dressing room. Colbert was excited by the footage, saying, “Don’t tell me what happens next.” Clooney responded, “I won’t, because the movie does not exist.”
