President Barack Obama Eats Bloody Salmon With Bear Grylls on Running Wild Preview: Watch!

He's far from the White House kitchen! President Barack Obama didn't have to eat bugs or cow tongue on his Alaskan adventure with Bear Grylls - but he did have to eat leftovers. While filming for an upcoming episode of Running Wild, POTUS and the NBC host noshed on some fish that had already been picked apart by another animal.

"I've seen some of the things Bear eats, and it's got to be something that doesn't still have its legs and eyes on it," Obama, 54, says in a new clip from the show, which airs in the fall. "I don't want it to be too recognizable."

Obama got his wish, but it still wasn't what he anticipated. Grylls decided to cook up a bloody salmon that he found near the water. "So, a bear chewed on this sucker?" the Commander in Chief asked. "I think a piece of salmon will work just fine. It would have been nice if we had a cracker to go with it."

Grylls, 41, was amused that Obama appeared "surprised" about his food choice. Obama, however, wasn't tickled by Grylls' cooking skills.

"Bear's a mediocre cook," Obama told the cameras. "But the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging. Now, the fact that this was a leftover fish from a bear? That was unnecessary. He could have just left that out."
