Robert Pattinson has joined One Direction, Jennifer Lawrence, Ashton Kutcher, Meryl Streep, and several other celebrities committed to improving the world over the next 15 years. They are all lending their support to the Global Goals campaign, whose mission is to end poverty, fight various forms of injustice and inequality, and confront climate change.

On September 25, 193 world leaders will convene at the United Nations in New York to adopt the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, which are designed tackle the previously mentioned issues. According to press materials released on Thursday, to accomplish these goals they need to be made “famous” and people must “push for their full implementation.” The Global Goals campaign reasons, “If the goals are famous – if people care about what has been promised by the politicians, it greatly increases their chance of being implemented. So today the campaign along with the UN is calling on everyone to help make the goals famous and ensure they become a reality.”

Ideally, stars like Pattinson, Lawrence, One Direction and other well-known people will, over the next seven days, reach seven billion people with news of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, so that different nations follow through and make sure their poverty rates are cut, drinking water is clean, and overall living conditions are improved.

Additionally, a number of musicians, including Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Pearl Jam, will converge on Central Park in New York on September 26 for the Global Citizen Festival, a concert that will also further publicize the Global Goals.
