“So You Think You Can Dance” is officially down to the Final Four!
Monday’s live episode kicked off with host Cat Deeley revealing Team Stage managed to out-score Team Street last week, the first time that’s happened in three weeks. She also explained that the Top 6 would be cut down to just four by the end of the two-hour broadcast. That would leave each team with just two dancers for next week’s performance finale.
First, everyone was tasked with performing three routines each this week, a solo dance, one with an All-Star, and one with a fellow contestant. But instead of revealing which dancers were safe and which were in jeopardy throughout the proceedings, Deeley kept everyone in suspense until the final minutes. And then, instead of naming a Bottom Two, it was announced which dancers were moving on to the finals, with the two names uncalled being the ones getting the boot.
The Stage Top 2 were revealed to be Gaby Diaz and Hailee Payne, and Virgil Gadson and Yaya Vankova made up the Street Top 2 to be the final four. That meant, based on the votes cast after last week’s show, Jim Nowakowski and Megz Alfonso were eliminated. Nowakowski was easily the most surprising elimination, as he had repeatedly been praised as one of the technically best dancers in the history of the FOX competition.
Votes for tonight’s performance will actually carry over to next week’s performance finale on September 7. And then the winner (or winners?!) will be crowned on the results finale on September 14. Watch the results announcement video below. TELL US: Are you surprised by who made the finals?
