The streaming service has renewed Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner's comedy Difficult People for a second season.
The Universal Cable Productions comedy, originally developed by USA Network, counts Amy Poehler as an exec producer. The second season order is for another group of 10 episodes.
While the streaming service does not release viewership data, Difficult People opened to largely positive reviews and no doubt received an assist as Eichner's (Billy on the Street) profile continues to rise.
“We have been big fans of Difficult People from day one and are so happy to have Julie and Billy be part of the Hulu family. I cannot wait to see what a whole new season will bring and am pleased to bring more of their hilarious brand of comedy to fans,” Hulu head of content Craig Erwich said in a release announcing the pickup.
The series hails from UCP and 3 Arts and is exec produced by Poehler, Dave Becky, Tony Hernandez of Jax Media and showrunner Scott King. Eichner and Klausner — who team on TruTV's Billy on the Street — star and exec produce.
Difficult People comes as Hulu continues to bulk up on studio fare, with projects including Universal Television-produced drama The Way as well as Warner Bros. Television mini 11/22/63, starring James Franco.
