Rihanna is “seriously mad” at Matt Barnes because she doesn’t want “bullsh*t” dating rumors derailing a possible budding relationship with Lewis Hamilton, a source exclusively tells Gossip Cop. We’re told by an insider the real reason Rihanna called out the basketball player for floating that the two had been on a couple of dates on the sly is that she’s in the early stages of getting to know Hamilton and doesn’t want the race car driver questioning whether or not she’s been honest with him.
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Barnes mouthed off to TMZ on Sunday that he and Rihanna have gone past “the crush stage,” adding, “We’ll see where it goes.” And while Rihanna generally ignores 99 percent of the garbage written and said about her, we’re told things are good so far with her and Hamilton, and the last thing she needs is Barnes “messing it up” with his “bullsh*t.”
The singer also doesn’t like people flat-out using her for publicity. That’s why Rihanna was “seriously mad,” says our source, and blasted Barnes on Instagram with the hashtags “#thedevilisaliar,” “#shesneverevenmetyou” and “#defamationofcharacter.”
As Gossip Cop has previously noted, Rihanna and Hamilton recently hung out in Barbados, and were spotted last week hitting New York nightclubs together.
