Vin Diesel movingly paid tribute to Paul Walker and his daughter Meadow Walker at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. Watch below.
After it was announced that Furious 7 won Choice Movie: Action/Adventure, the camera showed Diesel sitting in the audience with his head bowed. He then took the stage with co-stars Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Ludacris, who was also hosting. Diesel did the bulk of the talking, saying:
“This is really special. This was a very special movie for us to make. The fact that you all voted for this movie means a lot to us. We make these movies with these hearts. We really are a family. My kids refer to Luda as ‘Uncle Luda…’ We are a true, true, true family. You fans have been so incredible for us and encouraged us to reach higher and do better each time, so we thank you. We thank you with our hearts.
I can’t stand here and be rewarded like this without talking about somebody very, very important to us. One of the best blessings in our lives is the fact that we have the opportunity to call Pablo our brother. Paul Walker is here in spirit with us. And since this is a Teen Choice Award, you beautiful teens, there is one teen in the audience that is a part of the family that kept us going. It was Paul Walker’s family that kept us going while we were filming Furious 7. But there’s one special teen here, and her name is Meadow Walker. I love all of you.”
Ludacris then announced that Walker had posthumously won Choice Actor for the Action/Adventure category. Brewster concluded by saying, “We miss you, and we will always, always love you Paul.” Earlier in the show, Wiz Khalifa thanked Walker’s family while accepting Choice Song from a Movie or TV Show and Choice R&B/Hip-Hop song for “See You Again.” See the full video below.
