Gabourey Sidibe made a surprise appearance during the “Empire” performance at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. Check out the video below!
Jussie Smollett (Jamal) and Yazz The Greatest (Hakeem, real name: Bryshere Y. Gray) were previously announced as performers for this year’s ceremony, along with 5 Seconds of Summer, Little Mix and more. Just before they took the stage, the trio of co-hosts revealed the singer-actors would be treating the audience to “You’re So Beautiful,” a song they’ve performed on a number of other TV appearances. But this performance was like none other.
Three-quarters of the way through, Sidibe suddenly appeared. The actress, who plays Becky on the hit FOX series, shook her money maker and dazzled the audience in a sparkly aqua green dress. Sidibe really became the star of the performance, and whether it was the intention or not, she showed that “beautiful” comes in all shapes and sizes.
Sidibe will have a larger role on the upcoming second season of “Empire” after getting promoted from recurring guest star to series regular. Clearly, Smollett and Yazz don’t mind sharing the spotlight. Watch full video of the joint performance below!
