Kristen Stewart opens up about feeling validated through her acting career in two new interviews.
Stewart has been extremely busy in recent months, either filming or promoting a movie, and there’s several more films on the docket. Speaking to USA Today about her career boom, the actress says, “It’s nice to have people be like, ‘Hey, good job.’”
“But I’ve always been really confident about my path. It’s hard for me to speak to the whole idea of fewer roles for women, even though it’s absolutely true, because I’m just like, kind of swimming around this Olympic-sized pool of indulgence, which is so unbelievably lucky,” she says. “And so [the Cesar] was just kind of a nice pat on the back. Honestly, it was just really cool to get together with everyone and go, ‘F*ck yeaaah.’”
As Gossip Cop reported, earlier this year Stewart became the first American actress to ever win a Cesar Award, which is the French equivalent of the Oscars. “I’m going to be so real with you,” she tells USA Today. “I was in utter disbelief sitting there next to [Clouds of Sils Maria co-star Juliette Binoche] who told me, ‘It is crazy you were even considered to be nominated! No way, no way! They’ll never give it to you!'”
Stewart goes on to recall, “So I was just sitting there, we were just shooting the [sh*t], hanging out, like, ‘Oh, is this the category?’ And then all of a sudden the row cleared out. It was awesome.”
“Awesome” would also be an apt word to describe Stewart’s latest project, American Ultra, as she gushes to Parade about doing her own stunts for the film. “I am definitely not a wimp,” she says. “I didn’t entirely realize: Action movies hurt. You have to be down to take a hit. I went home with some serious bruising — and by the way, that’s the best. I would literally go home and be, ‘Check it out.'”
And asked point-blank whether she’s “pleased with the life you’ve chosen,” Stewart gives an introspective response that harkens back to her USA Today comments. She tells Parade, “At my age, people are just trying to figure out what they want to do, and I’ve been reaping the benefits for so long from a decision I made as a tiny kid.
