Fox has added a new animated series to its summer lineup, ordering a six-episode freshman season for cartoon Golan the Insatiable.

The half-hour comedy, premiering May 31 at 9:30 p.m., is not entirely new to the network. Golan first aired on Fox's late-night Animation Domination High-Def block in 2013 before the alt-comedy incubator moved over to sister network FXX. In addition to running 15 minutes longer, the new Golan also adds new voice cast in Rob Riggle and Aubrey Plaza.

Golan follows the titular godlord (Riggle) who befriends a morbid nine-year-old girl (Plaza) and frequently wreaks havoc on her rural Minnesota town — at her prompting. Other actors lending their voice to the series include Ken Marino, John DiMaggio, Maria Bamford, Rachel Butera and Nick Rutherford. The series was created by Joshua Miller, developed by Matt Silverstein and is exec-produced by ADHD's Nick Weidenfeld and Hend Baghdady.

There haven't been a lot of new animated offerings for Fox of late, as its Sunday Animation Domination block now also houses live-action series Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last Man on Earth. Joining The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob's Burgers this fall is Seth MacFarlane-produced Bordertown.
