Stephen Hawking, the brilliant physicist and cosmologist, has given hope through science that Zayn Malik may still be part of One Direction. On Saturday, speaking as a 3D hologram to a crowd at the Sydney Opera House in Australia from his workplace in Cambridge University in England, Hawking discussed a number of theories about and issues facing our universe. After talking about all sorts of mumbo jumbo, Hawking was asked about Malik leaving One Direction, a cataclysmic event that clearly shook the universe of millions of One Direction fans.

A woman asked the noted theoretical physicist, “What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?” Hawking first replied, “Finally, a question about something important.” He went on say, “My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics, because one day there may well be proof of multiple universes.” Hawking then explained, “It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe, and in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction.”

But that’s not all. Hawking further said that not only might Malik still be in One Direction in another universe, but also “this girl may like to know that in another possible universe, she and Zayn are happily married.”

Gossip Cop suspects that Stephen Hawking has suddenly become a hero to One Direction’s fandom. And maybe, just maybe, a few more teenaged fans of One Direction and Malik will no longer feel that science totally sucks. What do you think of Hawking’s response?
