The Metropolitan Police have released images from inside Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd, where thieves escaped with millions of pounds worth of jewelry and other valuables during an Easter weekend raid.

The police also offered further details of how the heist — in the safe deposit business in the heart of London's jewellery quarter — unfolded.

In a press release, police said the thieves entered the building via a communal entrance shared with other businesses, before disabling an elevator and entering the safe deposit business in the basement through the shaft.

Once at basement level, the thieves prised open a shutter, and entered armed with an angle grinder, concrete drills and crowbars, police said.
