Furious 7 Wins Box Office Race Again In Third Lap, Beats Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2

Furious 7 Opening Weekend

(Universal)

Furious 7 is still blazing across the top of the box office, three weeks into the release of the latest sequel in the star-studded franchise about fast cars doing dangerous things. Early estimates have the movie earning $27 million to hold onto the #1 spot, beating the new Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, which is expected to open to about $22 million.

The horror movie Unfriended should take in approximately $16 million for third place. Home, featuring the voices of Rihanna and Jim Parsons, is on pace for $9 million and the #4 spot. The Longest Ride is eyeing $7 million for a fifth place finish.

It might be a very tightly packed bottom half of the Top 10. The new nature movie Monkey Kingdom is looking to debut in sixth place with $4.5 million, but a crowd of holdover films are all bunched around $4 million. The Will Ferrell-Kevin Hart comedy Get Hard, the drama Woman in Gold, the dystopian action-adventure Insurgent, and the fairy tale Cinderella are currently neck and neck. Each movie is on pace for between $3.8 million and $4.3 million.

All current figures are estimates. Gossip Cop will have updates. What are you seeing this weekend?
