Star Ian Somerhalder also teases the impact of Bonnie offering Damon a cure for vampirism.

The Vampire Diaries' humanity-free Caroline (Candice Accola) has new targets on which to focus her attention: Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (the likely departing Michael Trevino).

In an exclusive clip from Thursday's episode, "I Could Never Love Like That," Caroline opts to test her exes on how well they know her with a bit of Caroline trivia. Both men do decently at her little "game" — until she throws a curve-ball question at them. (Watch the scene, above.)

Elsewhere, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will struggle over whether he should tell Elena (Nina Dobrev) that Bonnie (Kat Graham) has gifted him with the cure for vampirism — something Damon had intended to give to his girlfriend, though now he's having second thoughts.

"[The gift] is so profoundly [huge] — that's going to be the big catalyst; that's going to be the big thing that changes everything," Somerhalder told THR. "Having that knowledge that this exists is a big game-changer story-wise."

Although Bonnie's nice intentions are causing Damon some grief, Somerhalder acknowledged their friendship is "pretty continuous." But Bonnie herself is undergoing some changes as she adapts to life post-prison world. "She's changing, and she's tired [of the ways things are] — she wants her power back," Somerhalder explained. "She's tired of being the person that always gets hurt. She's tired of being that person. She has to define the boundaries before her, and Damon is no exception to that rule."

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
