Disney Junior'Mickey and the Roadster Racers' will debut in 2017.
Disney Junior is bringing Mickey Mouse and his pals back for a new animated series.
The preschool-focused cable network has ordered Mickey and the Roadster Racers to debut in 2017.
The series follows Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Daisy and Donald and their uniquely personalized vehicles on high-speed races around the globes as well as their adventures in Hot Dog Hills.
Geared toward kids 2-7, the series uses CG animation and live-action footage with the goal of delivering social and emotional lessons about friendship, teamwork and good sportsmanship. The Emmy-nominated creative team behind Disney Junior's Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse will produce the Disney Television Animation series, with Rob LaDuca on board as EP, Mark Seidenberg as co-EP and supervising story editor and Thomas Hart as story editor.
For Disney Junior, Mickey and the Roadster Racers comes as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse has been a top 10 series for kids 2-5 since its debut in 2006. That series airs in 159 countries and 32 different languages.
"Preschoolers around the world have enjoyed Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for almost a decade, and we are eager to showcase these classic Disney characters once again in a new series centered around their lives in Hot Dog Hills and surprising racing adventures that take the gang to a variety of iconic locales around the world," Disney Junior exec vp original programming and GM Nancy Kanter said in a release announcing the news Wednesday.
