Giuliana Rancic addressed the controversial comment she made about Zendaya’s red carpet Oscar look and whether she’ll be returning to “Fashion Police” on Monday’s “Today” show. Watch the video below.
“Fashion Police” has been on hiatus, following the backlash after Rancic joked about Zendaya’s dreadlocks. While the show will return in September, it’s not clear whether Rancic will continue to host it. When asked on the “Today” show if she’ll be returning when “Fashion Police” comes back in the fall, Rancic responded, “We’ll see.” She then joked that she may have to return to the “Today” show for a follow-up interview.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, “Fashion Police” co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin left the show shortly after Rancic apologized to Zendaya for the hair joke. Rancic explained on the “Today” show that the joke didn’t air in its entirety because of time. “I made a reference to the hippie culture. I talked about patchouli oil, which is a hippie perfume, and in the editing process some of the gestures I made and some of the things I said were taken out for time,” explained Rancic. “I made peace signs, I said bohemian twice — those were taken out for time. And so when the joke aired, some people were offended by it.”
Rancic added that she doesn’t tolerate racism “at all,” and felt it was important to “get that out there.” She continued, “The hardest part of all of this [is] that someone could believe that I would have racial undertones in the thing I do. Absolutely not.” Check out the video below of Rancic’s “Today” show interview, and tell us what you think.
