Will Forte sang a haunting and hilarious song about his beard on Friday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The actor is still sporting facial hair, but he previously shaved off the enormous beard he had grown for his post-apocalyptic sitcom “Last Man On Earth.” It hit him very hard. Watch the video below.
Before performing, he told Fallon about “the depression and sadness I went through when I shaved my beard off. It’s a tough time in a man’s life when they have to shave their beard.” Fallon asked if he wanted to do any vocal warm-ups, and Forte ran through some commercial jingles, including, “Get in the zone. AutoZone.” He also revealed that his mother had asked for his shaved beard hair for an art project.
Forte’s song was an aggressively bizarre combination of his lament over shaving his beard, his confusion over what his mom intended to do with his shavings, and interjections of the commercial jingles he’d used to warm up his voice. He also used the song as an opportunity to vent frustration with his mom for mixing up his new TV show with “Last Man Standing,” starring Tim Allen. It’s impossible to capture exactly what Forte did.
