HBO and Steve McQueen are moving forward with Codes of Conduct. A year and a half after they partnered to develop a drama pilot for the pay cable network, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that HBO has handed out a six-episode order for a limited series.
Per the deal, the 12 Years a Slave helmer will direct each of the six episodes — which also has Matthew Michael Carnahan on as co-writer and Russell Simmons executive producing with Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Alan Poul.
Codes of Conduct centers on a young African-American man with a mysterious past, who emerges on the scene in New York high society. The series stars Devon Terrell, Paul Dano, Helena Bonham Carter and Rebecca Hall.
The Codes of Conduct order is not unlike the original deal for True Detective, which started out as a limited series but was later renewed as an anthology.
