D.B. Woodside Joins Fox’s ‘Lucifer’

D.B. Woodside is boarding Fox's Lucifer.

The 24 alum will play Amenadiel, an angel sent to Los Angeles to persuade Lucifer to return to Hell in the DC Comics series. The show stars Tom Ellis (Rush) as Lucifer, the bored and unhappy Lord of Hell who decides to resign his throne for the beauty of Los Angeles. He get his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals, where he meets Chloe Dancer (Chicago Fire's Lauren German), a detective who is equally repulsed and fascinated by him.

The drama, which landed at Fox with a hefty put-pilot commitment in September, hails from Californication creator Tom Kapinos. He'll pen the script and executive produce under his Aggressive Mediocrity banner. Jerry Bruckheimer and his Jerry Bruckheimer Television topper Jonathan Littman will executive produce, with the company's KristieAnne Reed serving as a co-EP. Sleepy Hollow's Len Wiseman will direct the pilot, in addition to exec producing the drama.

Warner Bros. Television — home to all of DC's television adaptations — will produce the series, which is based on the character from The Sandman comics and its subsequent spinoff through DC's Vertigo imprint.

In addition to 24, Woodside's television credits include Suits, Single Ladies and Parenthood. He is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates, MJ Management, Favor PR and Hansen, Jacobson.
