Jaden Smith did NOT come out as gay on Twitter, despite a sensational report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim, which was spread on Wednesday by a questionable webloid. A Smith family rep tells Gossip Cop, “There’s no truth to it.”

MediaTakeOut started the rumor, taking one of Smith’s recent tweets and reading way more into it than was intended. The unreliable site declared, “IT HAPPENED!!! Will Smith’s Son Jaden Smith Comes OUT OF THE CLOSET… He Admitted On Twitter… That He’s GAY!!!” MediaTakeOut then wrote, “Congratulations are in order for Will Smith’s son JADEN SMITH – he came OUT HE CLOSET on Twitter last week. There has been SPECULATION for years that Jaden might have been gay… now there is NO DOUBT.”

“Jaden, who is known for wearing DRESSES out in public – explained to his Twitter followers that he is ‘falling in love’ with rapper Tyler the Creator,” continued MediaTakeOut, twisting the truth just as it has so many times before. The webloid then added, “Shortly after the tweet though, someone from Will or Jada’s PR team must have got wind of it… and they made him DELETE the tweet.”

Like many things MediaTakeOut claims, that’s just not true. The tweet was NOT deleted, and can be seen embedded below. And since the webloid didn’t bother providing context, here’s Smith’s complete message: “@f*cktyler I Think Im In Love With You, I Don’t Know I’m Still Figuring It Out But In The Meantime, Happy Birthday.”

No other outlet reported the tweet to mean Smith was “coming out,” because everyone except MediaTakeOut seemed to understand it was just a lighthearted post between friends that has nothing to do with the rising star’s sexual orientation. To be sure, Gossip Cop reached out to a rep for Smith regarding MediaTakeout’s claims, and we were exclusively told, “There’s no truth to any of it.”
