‘Agent Carter’ Bosses on Black Widow Showdown, MCU Nods and Season 2

Agent Carter Howard Stark - H 2015

ABC

Agent Carter is sprinting to the end of its first adventure.

The ABC series concludes its eight-episode first season Tuesday, picking up as the SSR mourns Dooley's (Shea Wigham) shocking death after he heroically sacrificed himself by diving out of their office window before the bomb strapped to his chest exploded.

The team must now track down Ivchenko (Ralph Brown), who was revealed to be the mind controlling villain Doctor Faustus, well known to comic book fans. Before sending Dooley to his death, Faustus controlled him into stealing Howard Stark's (Dominic Cooper) rage gas. It's safe to say, that technology is a key part of Faustus' endgame.

"It plays into it in a big way," co-showrunner Michele Fazekas tells The Hollywood Reporter.

While Peggy and Jarvis (James D'Arcy) have had to operate outside of the SSR, the events of last week's episode put them more or less in the good graces of her comrades, now that all the cards are on the table.

"There is more of a respect there now," says Fazekas.

Not only does Peggy (Hayley Atwell) have Faustus to contend with, but she must also track down her former friend Dottie (Bridget Regan), revealed to be the Black Widow. Co-showrunner Tara Butters teases a big showdown between the two, as well as a Marvel Cinematic Universe nod for fans to look forward to.

"We want a conclusion that is satisfying but leaves the door open for future stories," says Butters of the season one conclusion.
