Wiest will play Joan Short, the matriarch who adores her family and would do absolutely anything for them … as long she agrees with it.

The role for Wiest comes after the Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway Oscar winner told The New York Times that she was facing a financial crisis due to a lack of high-paying work. "I have to move out of my apartment soon," she told the paper of her struggle to pay her rent.

In addition to her film roles, Wiest earned an Emmy for her role in HBO's In Treatment and counts Law & Order among her small-screen credits. Her recent credits include Al Pacino's The Humbling and upcoming feature Sisters, opposite Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, as well as Five Nights in Maine.

Jones, meanwhile, is set as Jen, Greg's (Fargo's Colin Hanks) wife and a woman used to being in control, who now has a baby and finds for the first time she's not. The actress will make her return to CBS and reteam with executive producer Aaron Kaplan following her co-starring role in the network's short-lived comedy Friends With Better Lives. Jones, who recently wrapped production on indie feature Consumed — which she co-wrote and produced with husband Daryl Wein — also counts Whitney and The Good Wife among her TV credits.

Wiest and Jones join a cast that also includes Hanks as the youngest of three siblings; and Breaking Bad's Betsy Brandt as the eldest.

Better Off Ted's Justin Adler will pen the script and executive produce the 20th Century Fox Television single-camera entry. Kapital Entertainment's Kaplan exec produces.

Wiest is repped by ICM Partners; Jones is with WME and Jackoway Tyerman.
