Many of Saturday Night Live's biggest stars turned out for Sunday night's 40th anniversary special. Chevy Chase, Billy Crystal, Dan Aykroyd, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers were all spotted at the celebration.

But there was one still-living SNL star who couldn't attend: Tracy Morgan. Morgan is still recovering from the severe six-car accident he was in last June, which left Morgan seriously injured and fellow passenger James McNair dead.

Morgan's attorney Benedict Morelli said in a November court appearance that Morgan sustained a traumatic brain injury in the New Jersey Turnpike crash, in addition to a broken leg, nose and ribs. Furthermore, Morelli said, it's unknown if the comedian will be "the Tracy Morgan he once was."

Morelli has said Morgan's recovery has been rough. Morgan sued Walmart, claiming that one of its trucks, driven by Kevin Roper, allegedly plowed into the limousine van he was riding in. Morgan and others injured in the accident claim negligence on Walmart's part.

Morgan hasn't made any official public appearances since the incident but his friends in the industry have paid tribute to him at other high-profile events.

Morgan's 30 Rock co-stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin also took a moment for their friend on Sunday's SNL special.

"I wish my friend Tracy Morgan was here tonight, and I know that he was hoping that he would be well enough to be here too," Fey said.

Baldwin officially kicked off an enthusiastic round of applause for Morgan before showing off his impression of his 30 Rock co-star.

"And if he were here tonight, I'm sure Tracy would like to remind us that more than anything, he would like to get us all pregnant," Fey joked.

"See you at the 41st Tracy," Baldwin said. "We love you," Fey added. The two then threw to a clip of Morgan as one of his memorable SNL characters: Brian Fellow.
