No wands, but it’s still magical! J.K. Rowling’s first novel after the Harry Potter series, The Casual Vacancy, has been turned into a British mini-series for BBC. The story follows a handful of intertwined people in the English town of Pagford, who come from different socio-economic classes.

It received a lot of buzz when the book was initially released in 2012, mostly due to the former children’s author’s transition into more adult fare with raunchy language and imagery.

The cast of the mini-series is relatively unknown, with the exception of actor Michael Gambon, who played beloved Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the final six Potter films. Gambon, who will be playing greedy deli owner Howard Mollison, recently made the heartbreaking announcement that he would be retiring from theater acting due to struggles with memory loss.
