Artist Asya Kozina’s handmade confections can take months to craft.

But rather than use typical fabrics, Kozina decided to create her costumes out of paper.

"They are very extravagant and futuristic," she said. " I wanted to create my own version of these outfits and I felt the white paper emphasized their shape."

Kozina's been designing in paper since she was 8-years-old.

"My mother showed me how to cut simple patterns and I spent days cutting out hundreds of paper silhouettes," she said in an interview.

And each costume had to be built on the model. That meant interminably long hours of fittings.
