Bradley Cooper recently surprised wounded troops at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. See pictures below.
The American Sniper star gave about 260 service members and medical center staff an early screening of the film, and held a Q&A that included late Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle’s father, as well as two veterans who appear in the movie. Cooper also met one-on-one with patients, and gave out autographed posters and T-shirts. Cooper credited Kyle’s dad with the idea to visit, and told the soldiers, “You have done so much for all the vets, it’s the least we could do is come here and meet you guys.”
One Marine praised Cooper’s Oscar-nominated performance in the movie, saying, “I feel like you are one of my brothers. I think you did really well and I just want to say ‘Thank you.'” Following the visit, the facility shared photos on Facebook, writing, “Look who stopped by BAMC today to meet patients and staff and give an early viewing of his new movie American Sniper.”
In addition to Cooper’s acting nomination, American Sniper has scored Academy Award nods for Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. The movie broke box office records during its first weekend in wide release, though it has not been without controversy.
