Golden Globes Snubs & Surprises! – ARTICLE

The 2015 Golden Globe nominations have been announced with quite a few snubs and, as always, some surprises!

It was a good morning for "Birdman" (seven nominations) and "Boyhood" and "The Imitation Game" (each with five nods) – recognition that could be a very good indicator that Oscar nominations will follow.

On the TV side, "Fargo" scored five nods, while "True Detective" earned four and "The Affair," "The Good Wife," "House of Cards," "Orange Is the New Black" and "The Normal Heart" earned three nominations apiece.

Snubs!

- The Angelina Jolie-directed "Unbroken," about World War II tale of Olympic runner and POW Louis Zamperini, was shut out of the Globes race on Thursday morning with not a single nomination – the Globes red carpet just got a little less glam!

- Bradley Cooper in the Clint Eastwood-directed "American Sniper" missed the Globes mark.

- Christopher Nolan's somewhat polarizing "Interstellar" proved to be a little too puzzling for the HFPA, only scoring a nod for Hans Zimmer's score.

- "Gone Girl" racked up four nominations, but director David Fincher was left out.

- Laura Dern's heart-breaking supporting role in "Wild" was passed over, but co-star Reese Witherspoon earned a nod.

- Network Comedies: Only one show from network TV – "Jane the Virgin" – earned a nod in the Best Television Series Comedy or Musical category. Past favorites like "The Big Bang Theory" & "Modern Family" were given the cold shoulder.

- "Scandal's" Kerry Washington, who has been previously nominated, was left out this year.

- Award show darling Julia Roberts earned heaps of praise for her role in HBO's "The Normal Heart," but got no love from the Globes on Thursday.

- AMC's "The Walking Dead" might be a ratings monster and a beloved fan-favorite series, but zombie apocalypse was dead to the HFPA.

- Fellow AMC series "Mad Men" was also skipped over.

- Host and last year's winner Amy Poehler was told "Knope" to a nom by the HFPA for "Parks and Recreation" – maybe a little awkward, but we're hoping this makes for a good joke at the ceremony!

Surprises!

- Amazon Studios' "Transparent" was a welcome nomination surprise with the Jill Soloway series scoring a nomination for Best Television Series Comedy or Musical along with an acting nod for series star Jeffrey Tambor.

- Quvenzhane Wallis woke up to great news, scoring a nomination for her lead role in the "Annie" reboot. She is nominated alongside heavy hitters Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren and Julianne Moore. Kudos to the 11 year-old and previous Oscar nominee – will she walk the red carpet with a puppy purse as she did when she was nominated in 2012 for "Beasts of the Southern Wild"?

The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the third year in a row, will air live on January 11, 2015, on NBC at 5 PM ET/PT.
