A theatre has apologised after accidentally sending porn DVDs to children.

The Edinburgh Playhouse was supposed to send recordings of its summer schools to around 100 children, but parents reported viewing pornographic material on the DVDs.

The father of a 10-year-old girl who was reportedly sent the DVD was quoted by the BBC as saying the film was “absolutely disgusting filth”.

The theatre has blamed the production company behind the film and the DVDs have now been recalled.

We took immediate measures to recall all of the DVDs, sought the advice of the police and notified those affected customers as a matter of urgency.

The error occurred at the third party place of manufacture and we have demanded that the DVD production company launches a full investigation into the incident
