BBC America is going back to the royals.
The cabler has renewed its first original comedy series, Almost Royal, for a second season.
The seven-episode series hails from Burning Bright Productions with Clive Tulloh (Eddie Izzard: Marathon Man) and Seamus Murphy-Mitchell (Bug) producing. The series centers on Georgie (Ed Gamble) and Poppy Carlton (Amy Hoggart), the heirs to Caunty Manor, a large country estate in Norfolk, England, where they have enjoyed privileged lives as distant descendants of the British Royal Family.
"Burning Bright is delighted to have the opportunity to be making a second season of Almost Royal for BBC America," said Tulloh. "We are very proud to have made such an innovative comedy series that had found an audience on both sides of the Atlantic."
Added Perry Simon, BBC America GM: "Poppy and Georgie are back. God help us all."
The series debuted in June following the season finale of Orphan Black. It was broadcast on E4 in the U.K., and launched with a YouTube web series in a bid to draw early interest.
Almost Royal is part of BBC America's original programming roster that also includes Doctor Who, In the Flesh, Luther and The Musketeers, among others.
