“Orange Is The New Black” Actress Opens Up About Her Family’s Deportation

Diane Guerrero, who plays Maritza on Orange Is The New Black , and Lina on Jane The Virgin grew up on her own after her parents were deported when she was 14.

Guerrero's neighbor came over and told her that her parents wouldn't be returning. She was 14.

Guerrero, who plays Maritza on Orange Is The New Black and Lina on Jane The Virgin, opened up to Fusion and CNN about her parent's experience.

Deportations have been in the spotlight recently because of the expected immigration action from President Obama, which would protect millions of undocumented immigrants from deportations.

Speaking to CNN, Guerrero stressed that our country should work harder to find and create a solution for immigrant families.
