VH1 Greenlights ‘Comeback’-Like Comedy Starring Erin and Sara Foster (Exclusive)

VH1 is expanding its comedy brand.

The Viacom-owned cabler has picked up a satire series starring sisters Erin and Sara Foster, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The six-episode series, set for a March 2015 debut, was originally ordered as a presentation for the network nearly a year ago.

In Barely Famous, the siblings will play two sisters in a fake reality series navigating their careers and dating in L.A. while trying to maintain their picture perfect image. The duo's awkward celebrity encounters and efforts to book their next big gig go horribly wrong and the sisters prove that living the Hollywood lifestyle isn't easy — even if you’re born into it.

"When we sat down to come up with the concept and story behind Barely Famous, we kept referring to shows like The Larry Sanders Show, Extras and The Comeback as influences," the daughters of Grammy-winning producer David Foster said in a joint statement. "By design, the show pokes fun at the reality show genre as we play these stereotypical, delusional sisters who find themselves shooting a reality show, while also refusing to admit it to their friends. We felt that this was ripe territory for comedy and we are so grateful to VH1 for being open to showcasing something different to their dedicated viewers and giving us a platform to bring our show to life."

For her part, Erin Foster is a comedy writer/performer whose credits including writing for NBC's The New Normal and on-screen roles in The O.C. and Reno 911. She's currently writing a feature film for Universal Pictures.

Sara Foster is best known for her recurring role on The CW's 90210, and roles in Entourage and films D.E.B.S. and The Big Bounce

Barely Famous is executive produced by Good Clean Fun's Jason Carbone and Nick Lee, 3 Arts' Oly Obst, Josh Lieberman and Kimberly Carver. Erin and Sara Foster will also exec produce alongside VH1's Susan Levison,Jill Holmes, Kristen Kelly, Fernando Mills and Tricia Biggio.

"Barely Famous offers a tongue-in-cheek perspective on reality TV and life in the L.A. fast lane, two worlds our viewers are passionate about," said Levison, exec vp original programming and production at VH1. "We're thrilled to have Erin and Sara leading the charge into this type of comedy-forward programming."
