Kathleen Turner Dishes On ‘Dumb & Dumber To’ Role – ARTICLE

Kathleen Turner is having fun in "Dumb and Dumber To," playing a character who doesn't look the same as she did when she had a fling with Jeff Daniels' Harry, two decades earlier.

In the upcoming film, the "Romancing the Stone" alum plays Fraida, a character Harry runs into again after receiving a late-delivery postcard revealing that their past tryst left her pregnant. When Harry goes home to look into things, he runs into Fraida, who doesn't look the same as he remembered.

"Something really caught me in this character, which was maybe a little selfish, but there you go," Kathleen told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson over the weekend at the film's junket, about taking on the part. "The idea that they come to this woman they haven't seen for 20 years… and they don't recognize her and then she says, 'No, no, it's me!' They say, 'No, no… Fraida was hot. Fraida was smoking.'"

Kathleen said taking on the role gave her an opportunity to make a statement.

"This is my chance to say, 'That's right. See, I don't look like I did 30 years ago. Get over it,'" Kathleen told Shaun.

The actress said she thinks "Dumb and Dumber To," is the right kind of humor.

"First of all, I love the guys. It's just silly, good fun. One of the things that's been bugging me in the last years is that the humor in our country, in our culture, seems to be getting so much more -- it's mean spirited," Kathleen said. "It's like based on humiliation or somebody being embarrassed or hurt or something. These guys, the Farrelly brothers, and this stuff, is just fun. Nobody looks down on anybody else, and if they do then they're exposed as a pompous a**, right? … No, nobody wants to hurt anybody. This is just good fun."

"Dumb and Dumber To" opens in theaters on November 14.
