The war between Kesha and Dr. Luke continues to get more complicated. The music producer has filed a new lawsuit against Kesha’s mom, Pebe Sebert, alleging she fabricated her daughter’s sexual assault claims against him.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Kesha sued Dr. Luke earlier month, alleging he sexually, physically, and emotionally abused her throughout their working relationship. The star’s most serious allegations accused him of drugging her and then having sex with her. Dr. Luke almost immediately filed a defamation countersuit, claiming the allegations were made up, and that the pop star was extorting him in an attempt to get out of their contract.
And the sordid tale actually goes back even further. Kesha was in rehab earlier this year for an eating disorder, during which time Sebert publicly blamed Dr. Luke for her daughter’s issues. A recently-unearthed email from last year further shows Sebert again accusing Dr. Luke of horrific acts against Kesha, and threatening to go public. For her part, Kesha previously swore under oath in a prior case against her former manager that her relationship with Dr. Luke never turned physical, a statement that her lawyer has since said was made because she was fearfully under Luke’s control.
Now, in his new lawsuit filed against Sebert on Tuesday, he claims Sebert orchestrated the sexual assault lies so that he would be forced to let Kesha out of her contract. When he apparently refused, he alleges Sebert then tried extorting him over the issues unless he let her go. The legal papers further point to Kesha’s sworn statement as proof that the allegations against him were made up, but claims Sebert forced the singer to make the false accusations anyway.
Dr. Luke is suing Sebert for at least $75,000 in compensatory damages, according to TMZ. The site says he also wants punitive damages in addition to that. Gossip Cop has reached out to Kesha’s camp for comment.
