Kyle Killen Inks Overall Deal With Paramount TV

Kyle Killen has found a new home.

After years at 20th Century Fox Television, the showrunner behind Awake, Mind Games and Lone Star has inked an overall deal with Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Under the two-year, first-look deal, Killen will develop scripted fare for broadcast, cable, premium cable and streaming services. Additionally, Killen has launched a production shingle, ironically called Chapter Eleven, and tapped former AMC scripted vp Scott Pennington to oversee the company. Paramount TV and Anonymous Content will have first-look rights to produce and distribute Chapter Eleven fare.

"We are thrilled that through our partnership with Anonymous, we will be collaborating with Kyle and Scott to create complex, character-driven programming that is representative of an exciting new age of television entertainment,” Paramount TV president Amy Powell said.

Added Anonymous Content CEO Steve Golin, whose company manages Killen: "We are excited to expand our collaboration with Kyle and Scott. Kyle is a tremendous talent and we look forward to continuing our relationship with him as we work with Paramount TV to develop and produce great television."

Said Killen: "I am humbled and inspired to have the support of such enthusiastic partners, and Scott and I are truly honored to be joining the team."

For Paramount TV, Killen joins a roster of producers with overall deals at the company that includes Dustin Lance Black (Milk), Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow), Joe Carnahan, David Hollander, Robert Zemeckis, Akiva Goldsman, Andrew Niccol and Jeff Pinkner. Anonymous Content (True Detective, The Knick) inked a three-year scripted TV deal with Paramount TV in May.

Killen is a critical favorite whose three broadcast series have attracted rave reviews but small audiences. He is repped by WME and Anonymous Content.

Pennington comes to Chapter Eleven after spending three years at AMC. He previously held development posts at ABC Family and ABC Studios.
