Fox's Red Band Society is staging a Privileged reunion.
Privileged alum John Allen Nelson will reunite with series creator Rina Mimoun and recur on the hospital dramedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Nelson, who played Megan's (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) dad on The CW series, has been tapped to portray Emma's (Ciara Bravo) father Jon Chota on the freshman series exec produced by Mimoun. The character is described as compassionate and loving, a reserved man who chooses his words carefully and a hopeless case when it comes to saying no to Emma. Jon puts on a strong face but struggles with how to talk to Emma about her disease and winds up tiptoeing around the issue.

Exec producer Mimoun has been a fan of Nelson's since his four-episode stint in 2008-09 and has been looking for another role for the actor ever since. Nelson's casting is the latest casting to bring Mimoun's favorites to Red Band. Last week, Mistresses' Jes Macallan booked an arc on the Fox rookie. (Mimoun also serves as showrunner on ABC's Mistresses.)
Fox picked up four additional scripts for Red Band Society, an early vote of confidence in the Octavia Spencer-starrer as the network eyes a back-nine order for the rookie series.
