Carey will pen the script for 20th Century Fox Television and exec produce alongside Caroline Williams and 3 Arts' Tom Lassally and Greg Walter.

The Big Hole comes after Aubrey Plaza-starrer The To Do List — produced by Lassally and Walter — grossed $3.5 million last year on a budget of $1.6 million. Carey, who won the Austin Film Festival's best short prize for 2002's Dance Club and the SXSW Film Festival's audience prize for Lady Porn the year prior, wrote and directed To Do List. Her TV credits include directing gigs on HBO's Silicon Valley as well as In the Motherhood and Starting Over. Carey and Williams are repped by UTA and 3 Arts.
