Stephen Collins will reportedly not be prosecuted for child molestation or exposing himself to children, despite confessing to multiple incidents, because the statute of limitations prevents prosecutors from pursuing the cases.

According to TMZ, sources with the New York Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles Police Department have all indicated that the decades-old incidents will likely not lead to criminal prosecution against Collins.

During a secretly recorded therapy session, Collins admitted to his estranged wife Faye Grant that he had sexual contact with young girls, leading law enforcement officials to open investigations.

But because the three known cases occurred decades ago, and no evidence of more recent crimes has surfaced, TMZ’s sources say prosecutors will not pursue charges against Collins.

Grant claims Collins also molested a child more recently, during his “7th Heaven” run, but no victim has come forward to corroborate the allegation at this point.
