NBC is looking to Bachelorette's Leslye Headland and the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan for its next comedy.

The network has handed out a script commitment to an untitled comedy from the Bachelorette writer that's exec produced by Cosmo, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The single-camera comedy centers on a failed political blogger who restarts her life in New York as the "sex" editor for a prestigious and provocative women's magazine.

Headland will pen the script for the Universal Television, The District and Cosmopolitan comedy and exec produce alongside Ruben Fleischer, David Bernad and Joanna Coles, Cosmo's editor-in-chief. Holly Whidden will co-produce.

"I am elated to collaborate with Joanna on this series," Headland said. "Cosmo was a must-read for me growing up. Under Joanna's influence, the magazine embodies topics for every modern female, which makes this a perfect union."

Added Coles: "Leslye Headland has been quietly embedding at Cosmo for this project. We even managed to smuggle her into New York Fashion Week, so she's been sitting at the junction of fashion, celebrity, beauty and the utter madness of our world. Be prepared for life at a women's magazine, but not as you know it."

Before being named EIC at Cosmo in September 2012, Coles worked in the same capacity for six years at Marie Claire. There, she partnered with Lifetime's Emmy-wining fashion competition series Project Runway and served as a mentor on Project Runway All-Stars. She also starred in and produced Style Network's Running in Heels.

This marks Headland's second project at NBC. She previously adapted her comedic play Assistance for the network in 2012. Her TV writing credits include FX's critically praised Terriers. She next has feature Sleeping With Other People starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie. She's repped by CAA, Caliber Media and attorney Steve Younger.

Fleischer, who has an overall deal at Universal Television, and Bernad are repped by UTA and Sloane Offer. Fleischer also has comedy Greatest Love Story Ever Told and The Money Pit in the works at NBC this season.
