Amanda Bynes was stopped by security guards after allegedly shoplifting at $200 hat from Barneys in New York on Wednesday.
According to TMZ, the troubled actress was shopping at the high-end store on Madison Avenue when she put on the pricey hat and attempted to leave the building without paying.
Guards caught her and brought her back inside, where eyewitnesses allegedly saw Bynes “acting crazy.”
She reportedly told security personnel that she’d been chased by fans and was using the hat to cover her face — but never intended to steal it.
The guards then reportedly allowed Bynes to leave the scene before police officers arrived.
In exchange, Barneys is said to have made Bynes sign a no-trespass document banning her from coming back to the store.
