Her departure comes as Community gears up to make the jump from NBC, where it aired for its first five seasons, to Yahoo Screen. The streaming video platform has given the cult comedy a 13-episode season order. Brown, who plays Greendale Community College student Shirley Bennett, was expected to return for the show's sixth season along with cast members Joel McHale, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Allison Brie and Ken Jeong.
"Yvette was an integral part of Community and is irreplaceable. We are sad to see her go and wish her the very best," Harmon and McKenna said in a joint statement.
