Tommy Chong On Herb ‘Hiatus’ For ‘DWTS’ – ARTICLE

Tommy Chong has revealed he's curbed his marijuana use while he competes on "Dancing with the Stars."

"I'm on hiatus," the star told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson as he rehearsed with his professional partner, Peta Murgatroyd, for the "DWTS" Season 19 opener.

And, Tommy believes his muted marijuana use will assist his ballroom prowess.

"I think it's gonna help, because if I'm on pot I'll be doing the couch move, where you're just laid out," he said.

Tommy and Peta will hit the ballroom on Monday night on ABC and will be performing the cha cha. Peta said she has been working hard to get Tommy up to scratch with his moves.

Asked what they are working on, Peta said, "getting everything [up] to the speed of the cha cha, getting the quick feet happening and getting the arms happening with the feet, getting everything together."

This season, Tommy is the oldest "DWTS" competitor (he's 76), but he's been doing all he can to keep himself limber.

"The joints are getting oiled," he said.

"I'm talking about my body joints," he added.
